Setting up an email address in Microsoft Outlook is relatively quick and easy.
A benefit of buying a domain and hosting a website is the inclusion of email addresses for your domain name. Using domain specific email addresses (like how I use @devadigm.com) helps add to the a businesses professional presence. You wouldn’t see medium to large companies using a gmail or yahoo email address.
Here is a step-by-step tutorial (with screenshots!) of how to setup an email address in Microsoft Outlook
To complete this, you’ll need your email address, password, and both your incoming and outgoing mail servers. If you’re a client of {DEVADiGM} or one of our partners, this information should have been emailed to you at your existing email address. If you haven’t received it, please email us.
(These instructions are from Microsoft Outlook 2010. Other versions are similar but may appear different than the screen shots)
- Open Outlook on your desired device
- Click on ‘File’

- If the account has previously been setup in this Outlook, select it from the dropdown menu.
- Otherwise click on ‘Add Account’

- Click on ‘Manually Configure Server Settings’

- Click ‘Next’
- Select ‘Internet Email’

- Enter in the requested information
- “Your Name” is how your name will appear in other people’s inboxes.
- Type in your full email address
- Account Type:
- Pop3 – Keeps email clients separate. Deleting email in Outlook will not delete it from webmail, phone, etc.
- IMAP – Controls email on the server so actions taken on one device spread across all devices.
- When using IMAP, moving an email to another folder or deleting it in Outlook results in the same action happening on any other connected devices such as your smartphone and also webmail.
- Incoming & Outgoing Mail Server details are listed above

- Click ‘Next’
